Types of Glue
Polyurethane glue when exposed to moisture the reacts and creates a foaming action that fills while it sticks. Most polyurethane glues have an open working time of 20 minutes. The glue is brown in color, but when ...
dry it dries a tan colour. This is designed to bond fundamentally flat, smooth surfaces. As the glue expands while setting, it will fill minor gaps, however, such a bond is weak as the expanded glue contains entrapped air bubbles.
Moisture in the air or the materials being bonded is usually sufficient to cause Polyurethane Glue to cure. Both the Gorilla Group and Franklin Group (Titebond) and some of its competitors claim their cured adhesive is completely waterproof, other brands maintain only water-resistance.
Aliphatic Wood Glues
The literal meaning of Aliphatic is the direct opposite of Aromatic......ie.Little or no smell.
An Aliphatic Wood Glue is a glue tha has little or no smell,it is made from straight line hydrocarbons as opposed to ...
circular or ring Hydrocarbons which are aromatic (smelly).
An Aliphatic Wood glue like Titebond 1 (RED LABEL) competes with all those other wood glues that call themselves ALIPHATIC in the title.
Activators, Accelerators or Kickers
These products speed up the chemical reaction between the superglues and the material they are bonding. Very often used in the field (outside) where temperatures are lower to accelerate the bonding times. Vitalbond ...
Activators are all safe on PLASTICS and do not affect FOAM
